Introduction |
The Messiah Team have made the next step
and released the Messiah 2 PRO.
This is a 100% Non Swap solution which
will you to load
ALL Games and ALL Formats
on ALL PAL (NZ/AUS/UK), USA or JAPAN/ASIAN
PlayStation 2 game consoles without the need to
swap or patch the media.
The Messiah 2 PRO chip will not make your console a Multi-zone DVD player. See the DVD Multi-Zone
problem below.
One feature that stands out is the ability to load ORIGINAL
IMPORTS. Why wait months for the New Zealand (PAL) release of the latest
games when you can buy the
original USA or JAPAN release of the games from many of the online stores
including:
Tronixs
- Tronix Multimedia Corp and NCS
- National Console Support, Inc
|
| |
|
Features |
- 100% Pure Messiah 2 PRO Code -
Not a clone or copy
- Load PlayStation 2 and PlayStation/PSone
titles from ALL Regions - whether the game originates from the
USA, JAPAN/ASIA or EUROPE/UK/NZ/AUS regions.
- Load PlayStation 2 and PlayStation/PSone
titles no matter what the media is - whether the games are on
Original DVD-Rom/CD-Rom media, HK Silver DVD-Rom/CD-Rom media or
DVD-R/CD-R (Back-up) media.
- Multi-disc Game and DVD9 compatible
- PS2/PSX mode selection is now simpler
and more intuitive
- Disable chip - The ability to
“switch off” the chip has been included to permit the PS2 to behave as
though there is no ModChip fitted (transparent).
- Works in all New Zealand and Australian
PlayStation 2 consoles including models SCPH 30002 (V3/V4), SCPH 35002 (V4), SCPH30002R
(V5/V6), SCPH39002 (V7) and SCPH50002 (V9) Silver & Black models
- Works in all other PAL PlayStation 2
consoles
- Works in all USA PlayStation 2 consoles
- Works in all JAPAN PlayStation 2
consoles
- NTSC-PAL Screen Fix -
Will make sure that all NTSC (USA and JAPAN) titles are displayed in a
full size screen on a PAL (NZ) TV system. No more black bands above
and below the display or oversized displays
- NTSC-PAL Colour Fix* - Will allow
NTSC (USA/JAPAN/ASIA) regions to be displayed in colour on a PAL TV
system, otherwise your TV set may display the NTSC games in B&W.
- Only 24 Wires to be connected - See Installation
section below.
- Pin markings - on the PCB for
easier identification and installation.
- Fully pin compatible with original
Messiah design
-
Auto configuring - No jumpers need to be set,
automatic region and version detection
- NO Track cutting or Component removal
* Not a function of the Messiah 2 PRO chip but a
simple mainboard hack to compliment the Messiah 2 PRO chip installation.

DVD
Movie Playback and Macrovision:
The Messiah 2 PRO will NOT Multi-Zone your PlayStation 2
and you will not be able to view movies from other regions except
only Region 4 - NZ/AUS and Region 0 - Zone free. Also the
Messiah 2 PRO
will not disable the Macrovision system.
Work Arounds:
You need to use one of the following Datel products:
Action Replay 2v2 (ARv2) or DVD
Region X. Both of these commercially released tools will allow
your PS2 to become a DVD Multi-Zone player.
There is a public domain utility like Datel's
Region X Multi-Zone system. Simply download this file: DVD
Multi-Zone PAL (123K) , read the readme.txt and write the image
to a CDR. I have not tried this tool myself and I have been
advised that it works only on V4 Mainboards and not the V3, V5/V6, V7 or V9
Mainboards.
For the Macrovision problem, I can supply a Macrovision Removal
Modchip if required . A simple 4 wire install. Please note that the Macrovision chip will not work in all consoles and TV/Video setups. |

Installation |
Please ensure that you have read the DISCLAIMER
- Installing the Messiah 2 PRO into your PlayStation 2 will NULL
and VOID your warranty!
The installation of the Messiah 2 PRO
requires the right tools, materials
and experience in soldering to surface mount components. There is a very
high risk factor in installing this solution and it is recommended that you have someone who has very good soldering skills to install
the Messiah 2 PRO for you otherwise you will end up with disaster on your
hands as some of the soldering points are very small and difficult to
solder. Messiah 2 PRO installation is not for the Amateur- be
warned!!
Click here to see some examples of my
Messiah installations in the various
NZ/AUS PlayStation 2's models. The photos are of installation's using the
original
Messiah, as opposed to the Messiah 2 PRO, however majority of the
connections points for the Messiah 2 PRO are the same as the original
Messiah chip.
1. Identify your model:
The list below will assist you in identifying your PlayStation 2
model.
What version
Mainboard do I have (Applicable to NZ/AUS models only)?
You need to look at the label (similar or same as the one below) which
is stuck to the left rear of your PlayStation 2 console. The label has
the serial number and the model number of your PlayStation 2. The
number we want is the model number which is shown in the RED box ie
this label is from a SCPH 30002R console.
The various models in New Zealand and Australia are:
- SCPH 30002, has a Version 3 or
Version 4 Mainboard
- This
model will have 10
screws (under the 4 rubber feet and 6 plastic caps) on the bottom
side holding the case together. Please note that there are also consoles
labeled as SCPH
30002 but the actually are a Version 4 Mainboard/Case.
-
SCPH 35002, has a Version 4 Mainboard - This
model will have 8 screws (under the 4 rubber feet and 4
plastic caps) on the bottom holding the case
together and a "Electrical Warning Hazard Label". Also the
Expansion Port cover is constructed from plastic and tin plate.
-
SCPH 30002/R, has a
Version 5 or Version 6 Mainboard -
This model will
have 8 screws (under the 4 rubber feet and 4 plastic caps) on the bottom holding the case together and a "Electrical Warning Hazard Label"
Also the Expansion Port cover is constructed from plastic only and
has a extra screw behind the Expansion Port as shown in this photo.
-
SCPH 39002, has a
Version 7 Mainboard - This model will have 8 screws (under the
4 rubber feet and 4 plastic caps) on the
bottom holding the case together and a "Electrical Warning Hazard
Label" Also the Expansion Port cover is constructed from plastic
only and has a extra screw behind the Expansion Port as shown in
this
photo. Identical to the SCPH 30002R, only different
label.
- SCPH 50002, has a Version 9 Mainboard - This model is easily identified by the missing i-Link port which was located below the controller ports on the front left hand side of the console.) There is now only the 2 USB ports as shown in this photo.

2. Installing the Messiah 2 PRO Chip
Below are links to the installation diagram
pages for the various versions of Mainboard in New Zealand - Select
the appropriate one for your Mainboard and away you go. As I said earlier
the installation should be carried out be someone who is competent at
soldering to this level.
I use light hook-up wire for the 3.3VDC and Ground connections. I use 38swg enamel wire (which is like a strand of hair) preferably the
self fluxing type (easier to solder) for the 8 connections on the V3 and
the 4 connections on the V4 to the controller
chip. And finally all other
connections I use 30swg wire wrap wire. Apart
from that use the right tools and check everything!!!!
