INSTALLING THE MODCHIP
There are two variants of circuit board for this model. To identify what board you have and what diagram you need. Turn the board over to the rear side and compare this to the diagram of the old board or the new board.
Once you have the correct diagram, locate where the ModChip is to be placed. Using double sided tape stick the ModChip to this position.
You can now solder the seven wires to their correct places on the main board as indicated on the correct diagram and table below:
| Bare ModChip | Assembled ModChip | Connection on main board as indicated on diagram |
| Pin 1 | RED wire | RED circle with a 1 |
| Pin 2 | No Connection | No Connection |
| Pin 3 | GREEN wire | YELLOW circle with a 3 |
| Pin 4 | BLUE wire | YELLOW circle with a 4 |
| Pin 5 | GREEN wire | RED circle with a 5 |
| Pin 6 | BLUE wire | RED circle with a 6 |
| Pin 7 | YELLOW wire | YELLOW circle with a 7 |
| Pin 8 | BLACK wire | RED circle with a 8 |
DOUBLE CHECK that you have soldered the wires to correct positions on the main board and that the soldered connections are good, no bridging or blobs of solder left on the board etc
Now you are ready to re-assemble your PlayStation, simply by following the steps in reverse order from step: REMOVAL OF THE MAIN BOARD
Once you have re-assembled your Playstation, plug in all your leads and turn it on and check that it will load an Original CD and an Imported or Back up CD.
